Message from the president
Welcome to the Anglican/Adesuwa Girls’ Grammar School Old Girls’ Association, USA. This association was inaugurated on March 26, 2011. Our vision is to support and enhance the academic standards of the school so that AGGS, Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria, can once again become an institution of academic excellence. This will involve rehabilitating school buildings and developing educational programs that improve learning and teaching excellence.
We have made significant progress since our first project of providing the school with a 22-room bathroom facility, complete with a borehole, water tanks, and a structure to house a generator. Since then, a perimeter fence has been constructed, a scholarship in memory of a beloved teacher has been established, and most recently, the construction of biology and physics laboratories was completed. We are focused on providing further support needed in the school to enhance learning, especially in this age of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Our members are women of courage who selflessly give of themselves. They come from all walks of life and age groups. We want to continue attracting such women to join us as we march forward to do more for our alma mater. We believe in the concept of Ubuntu, an African way of life that recognizes our shared human experience and interdependence – “I am because we are.”
